Mark Martin is a dynamic leader with 28 years of executive and middle management experience in diverse organizations. He has an extensive background in leadership, fundraising, and education.

Mark retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of distinguished active duty service including commanding in a wide variety of units around the world.

Most recent, Mark has over 11 years experience in higher education as a professor, department chair, and university vice president. He served as Vice President of Advancement and Development for The University of Texas at Arlington for over three years. At UTA he established a highly cohesive and productive development team with a budget of $1 million dollars supporting 10 college deans. During his tenure as Vice President, Mark increased the endowment growth at a rate of 20% annually. For two consecutive physical years Mark led the largest cast gift years in university history including the largest single cash gift. He established and expanded the university development board, major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving programs, web site integration, and fund raising automation to include prospect research and management systems.

Mark is an accomplished public speaker and commonly addresses audiences in a variety of multi-media forms.

While at the university in a client relationship, Mark gained a great appreciation for the J. F. Smith Group philosophy. He joined the Smith Group in 2003 as campaign counsel and project manager. He also assists the president in communicating the J. F. Smith Group vision as a marketing representative for the company.
