Biography:

Mr. John Staton joined the J.F. Smith Group in January of 2006 as a feasibility study interviewer. He quickly added prospecting visits to his list of duties, and in November of 2007 he began work as project manager of his first capital campaign, Crenshaw Christian Academy in Luverne, Alabama. Then, in January of 2009, Staton accepted the position of director of marketing. Currently serving three roles with JFSG – feasibility study interviewer, capital campaign project manager, and director of marketing – Staton is invaluable to the company.

 

Since his start in 2006, Staton has conducted more than 220 feasibility study interviews. He is currently serving as the project manager for the Auburn Football Lettermen Club’s capital campaign, which has a working goal of $750,000. Additionally, he works with company development in his position as director of marketing. Staton works with JFSG to broaden its market while serving the private school community. JFSG takes great pride in the number of clients who have through the years conducted numerous campaigns while continuing to use the Smith Group for their counsel. Clients are eager to speak of the professionalism and success that JFSG has brought to their campaign efforts.


Prior to joining JFS, Staton worked in a variety of fields. Among others, he worked in admissions recruitment and alumni relations at Emporia State University. His career then entered the business world as he joined S.R.A., an educational publishing company and subsidiary of IBM. After 15 years of sales, marketing and management responsibilities, throughout the nation, he then moved to the San Francisco Bay area to join a new start up computer operation. Again, he was heavily involved in sales and marketing management nationally. After 15 years on the west coast, John and his wife, Connie, moved to the Auburn community to be near family.
