J. Lewis Cannon

Biography:

Mr. Lewis Cannon has worked with the J.F. Smith Group for more than 10 years. He has served in various capacities including feasibility study interviewer, feasibility study coordinator and capital campaign project manager. Most recently, he was promoted to the position of vice president of feasibility study training and strategy.

 

Cannon has served as project manager for ten capital campaigns with JFSG. Most recently, he assisted Fellowship Christian School, located in Roswell, Georgia, reach their campaign goal of $7.1 million. Cannon is also an experienced feasibility study interviewer. He has conducted interviews in 36 JFSG feasibility studies. In 2007 JFSG presented Cannon with the “Lewis Cannon Award.” The award goes to the interviewer of the year, as voted by JFSG staff. He was the first recipient of this award.

 

Prior to joining the J.F. Smith Group, Cannon was active in the field of higher education for over 30 years. His varied career at Auburn University involved both administration, teaching, and research. For over 20 years, as coordinator of training for Auburn University's Center for Governmental Services, he was responsible for developing and directing educational programs for the State of Alabama's Department of Revenue and for various associations of local government officials. More recently, Cannon served as assistant director of Auburn University's Master of Public Administration Program.
