Sissy Spence

Mrs. Sissy Spence joined the J.F. Smith Group in October 2009 as vice president. Recently promoted to senior vice president of client services in 2010, her immediate duties are comprised of management of JFSG communications and marketing; JFSG feasibility studies; client services; conference speaking engagements; and client project management. 

Her experience within the J.F. Smith Group has included strategic planning; conducting feasibility study interviews; managing capital campaigns; identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects; and volunteer and staff solicitation training. 

With an extensive background in fund-raising in East Central Alabama, Spence joined Jacksonville State University in 2004 as their first major gifts officer and successfully helped raise over $31 million in the Power of 125...Join the Celebration capital campaign for JSU. At JSU, she was involved in the coordination of fund-raising programs for annual giving, major gifts, and planned and estate giving. She developed and implemented strategies that ensured successful identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors with the potential to make gifts of five to seven figures.

Prior to joining the university in 2004, she enjoyed 11 years working in sales and marketing. Spence earned her bachelor's degree in marketing and management from Jacksonville State University in 1990. As a student, she received an athletic scholarship and played on JSU's first women's fast pitch softball team from 1987 to 1990. Spence is also a member of AFP and CASE.
