Jerry F. Smith Publishes Second Book

Over that past few years, Jerry F. Smith has been hard at work writing short articles to educate and motivate his staff and clients. In 2008, he decided that these articles should be made available to all individuals in the business of fund-raising. He compiled the articles in a book, published in March, titled Fund-Raising: Rules of the Road to Success. The book takes the reader on a "road trip" that has three stops along the way: success as an individual; success as a colleague; and success as a fund-raiser.

"Your book could not have arrived at a better time. I was sitting in my office putting off making my first initial appointments with major gift prospects. After reading your book, I picked up the phone and made my first appointment. It really wasn't all that hard after all. I think your book is wonderful. It gave me the encouragement that I needed. Thank you very much. I'm sure I will refer to it often." - Cheryl Gallagher, The Rose

"Jerry, I have been in the biz since 1971, in all kinds of charities from universities to hospital and health systems and you do the best job of making things clear, systematic and effective in major capital fund raising." - Richard L. Kramer, President, Brighton National Addiction Foundation St. John Brighton Hospital

And, don't forget about Jerry's first book, Cultivating and Sustaining an Annual Fund in Your Christian School. This book has been educating fund-raisers in the Christian school market since it was published in 2005. We received the following letter from a reader, which illustrates the benefits of this book.

"Good afternoon!  I recently read your book Cultivating and Sustaining an Annual Fund in Your Christian School.  Your book was listed as a text for a class I am taking on developing institutional support.  This course is a requirement to complete my doctoral program.  I have never been a big fan of fundraising and until I read your book I never understood the purpose of an annual fund.  I have worked at two universities which are Christian Schools but again, I never understood why things were done the way they were in reference to the annual fund.  You have shed light on so many areas, and I truly thank you."
