New Faces at JFSG

2010 ushers in a new year for the J.F. Smith Group. Not only are we seeing a change in decade, we are excited to announce some new faces around JFSG. With two new additions, and some responsibility changes, we have formed our strongest team of associates yet!

SissyFirst, Sissy Spence joins us as senior vice president of client services. In this role, her immediate duties include management of JFSG communications and marketing; JFSG feasibility studies; client services; conference speaking engagements; and client project management. Prior to joining the J.F. Smith Group, Spence served as the major gifts officer for the College of Education and Professional Studies, the College of Commerce and Business Administration and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Jacksonville State University from 2004 to 2009. There she successfully helped raise over $31 million in the Power of 125...Join the Celebration capital campaign for JSU. Prior to joining the university in 2004, she enjoyed 12 years working in sales and marketing.

Spence had this to say about joining JFSG, "Helping our clients reach their development goals by going that extra mile is a proven formula for success. I am very excited to be a part of an organization that brings excellence to the table every time. Knowing that many of our clients have been with us through multiple campaigns speaks volumes for the relationships that we have developed over the years. It's a relationship business...that's what we instill in our clients and that's what we believe as a company.

The time that I've spent in university development, and once being a client myself, has helped me understand how to creatively work with our clients, helping them seek out new opportunities while facing the everyday challenges that arise in fund-raising. My goal is to focus on best practices so that we can continuously improve our services to better meet the unique needs of our clients."

SusanNext, we are happy to have Susan Mancuso, CFRE, as our new vice president of feasibility studies. In this role, Mancuso conducts on-site feasibility study planning meetings, oversees the feasibility study process and administers internal development assessments for our clients. With over 18 years of fund-raising experience, she brings the best practices from her work with local and national non-profit organizations, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Ochsner Clinic Foundation; the American Heart Association; the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; and the University of New Orleans.

"As part of the JFSG team, I most enjoy sharing my passion for the fund-raising business and my commitment to delivering customer delight. Excellence is in the details, and the J.F. Smith Group's dedication to this philosophy is one of the things that make us, and our clients, so successful," said Mancuso. "By helping our clients make their dreams come true, I believe we positively impact the future for generations to come."

DickFinally, seasoned JFSG associate Dick McMahon has taken on a new role as senior vice president of the company. In addition to performing his previous duties as feasibility study and campaign specialist and JFSG prospecting representative, McMahon also now oversees the progress of all our clients' capital campaigns.

"In my new role with the J.F. Smith Group I have the opportunity to work closely with even more of our clients to help them fulfill their development dreams," McMahon said. "The fund-raising philosophy of JFSG is solid and effective. I have personally seen our company's approach produce success -- first as a Smith Group client and now in campaign project management for colleges, schools and non-profit organizations. Fund-raising is hard work, but very rewarding, as we partner with clients to reach their goals."
