Job Description: USU is seeking a Development Officer to join the Development and Marketing team working to meet the university's overall fund-raising goals. This position will report directly to the Vice-President of Development and Marketing and will include the following responsibilities:
• Expand the current donor base, including all aspects of prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Corporate and Individual donors.
• Create an annual donor recognition program.
• Create and implement an on-line giving program.
• Work with the VP of Development and Marketing to design, implement, and communicate a detailed development plan.
• Maintain a prospect management database.
• Work effectively with university faculty and staff to ensure that development activities in all areas are congruent with the mission.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Director in the production of e-newsletters and other related collateral.
• Work effectively with the Vice President of Development and Marketing to achieve fund-raising goals.

Qualifications: Individuals applying for this position should possess significant experience directly related to the above-described duties and responsibilities. The following specific skills are also necessary:
• Minimum of three years fund-raising experience with a proven track record of success in the solicitation of corporate and major gifts required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fund development theory and practice.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to develop and make presentations to potential funders, boards of directors, and a variety of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with a board of directors and staff in a non-profit setting.
• Flexibility and adaptability, including a willingness to take positive action in a changing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to both work with a high degree of autonomy and participate effectively on a team.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to travel to visit prospects and donors.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree required.
