Dr. Worden has been active in the field of education for nearly 30 years. His 10 year career in elementary education offered him teaching experience from levels kindergarten through sixth grade, team leader/coordinator responsibilities in a multi-aged learning environment and several administrative roles involving parent communication, teacher negotiation teams and faculty/staff coordination responsibilities.

As an Associate professor of Literacy Education (kindergarten-adult) at Auburn University, Dr. Worden's 15 years were spent teaching prospective or practicing teachers at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels to teach young learners to read and comprehend productively. Dr. Worden was also Director of the Reading Services Center where he created and supervised very successful summer reading programs of tutorial or enrichment opportunities for elementary age learners. Dr. Worden has authored numerous professional articles related to the teaching of reading and the language arts. He also authored a college level textbook entitled "The Classroom Reading Program in the Elementary School: Assessment, Organization, and Management" published by Macmillian Company, Incorporated.

Dr. Worden has been a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church in Auburn, Alabama since coming to Auburn in 1980. Among various church related tasks he has been trustee and Education Work Area Chairperson. He is married to Tasha J. Worden and they have a daughter, Tracey and 2 grandchildren Madison and Jasmin.
